Safeguard your distinctive industrial identity with the right legal advice
A design means the features of shape, configuration, pattern, ornament or composition of
lines or colours applied to any article whether in two dimensional or three dimensional or
in both forms, by any industrial process or means, whether manual, mechanical or chemical,
separate or combined, which in the finished article appeal to and are judged solely by the
eye; but does not include any mode or principle of construction or anything thing which is
in substance a mere mechanical device, and does not include any trademark.
Design gives a product an aesthetic appeal and often also helps to distinguish between
products. It is an asset of a firm and therefore needs to be protected like other forms of
intellectual property. However it must be noted that registered designs are intended to
protect the appearance of products not their function.
We at, IPR INTERNATIONAL SERVICES possess a unique experience in obtaining registration and enforcement rights of designs in difficult and sensitive areas. We also have wide experience of advising clients on how to protect and prevent industrial exploitation of their designs.
